How the Hunts Work
Each hunt takes place in our 140 acre hunting preserve that
consists of tall oak trees, poplar trees, thick underbrush,
diamond willows, and food plots! Hunters have the freedom
to use a weapon of their choice, as long as they are
proficient hunters with said weapon. We have many stand
options for you and your guide and even some that can
include a third person!
To book your hunt, call 218-754-2371. We will ask for a down
payment, which is typically $1,000 for any size hunt.
At Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetail we GUARANTEE our
hunts! This means that if you do not succeed in harvesting a
buck during your first trip, you can come back at a later date
at no further cost till the harvest is complete.
Everything is included in the cost of the hunt.

Tree Stands
Our tree stands are accommodating for all styles of hunting.
We have ladder stands for archery or close range hunting,
and we have multiple types of tower stands.
Some of our tower stands are open topped and provide a
sturdy shooting rest for both rifles and crossbows. Most of
these stands are for two occupants, you and your guide. The
open top allows for you to see and hear everything that is
happening around you. In these stands you must sit very still
to avoid being seen.
If the weather turns nasty, or we want to hunt with three
people (two hunters and the guide) we do have one fully
enclosed Banks stand, and a three person custom tower
stand with a elevated roof.
All of our tower stands have the capability to be heated
should the temperature drop.
Lodging
Lodging is available if you want to take advantage of it!
We have a 26 foot camper that our hunters stay in. There is
also a fully functional bathroom in our 36x80’ shop. The
camper is just steps away from the shop where some of the
meals take place, as well as the processing of the harvested
animal.
All meals are home made, and many of them take place on
our Traeger Smoker. We typically smoke meat at least once
per hunt, whether it’s pork loin, ribs, or breakfast sausage,
our home cooking will leave you full and ready for a good
nights rest after the long day out in the field.
Harvesting your buck of a lifetime
Upon Harvesting your buck of a lifetime the evening will
progress quickly. Depending on daylight available, other
hunters in the field, and the weather, we may begin looking
for your harvest right away! Once we approach the downed
deer (and make sure its down) we will begin a photo session
of you and your trophy! We take photos with multiple
cameras, including your phone and/or camera if possible.
After photos we will take the harvest back to the shop, and
commence with the processing of the deer. This includes
getting the live weight of the deer, field dressing it, skinning
and quartering, and caping out the head. Once everything is
taxidermy ready, we will score the buck and determine the
final cost of the hunt.
We ask that each hunter brings enough coolers to put the
quarters in (large coolers as some of our bucks have
weighed in at 360 pounds).
The antlers and cape will be taxidermy ready by the time we
are done.

Pricing and Other Information
Our 2023 hunting prices are now better then ever! Here is
why! When we first started our hunting preserve, it took us 4-
5 years to grow a 180" buck. Now, with better genetics
through artificial insemination, our two year old bucks are
routinely over 200 inches!
So fewer years to grow a trophy buck, means less feed, less
opportunity for self injury or death, and less overall expense.
Our new 2023 price list reflects these savings!
Under 160”
$3,600
160-170”
$4,000
171-180”

276-300”

Anything scoring over 300” or even over 400” will be priced
out and agreed upon before the hunt.
*These prices are considered the normal prices; however, an
extermely narrow buck, or a buck with a known broken tine,
can be adjusted at a discounted price. This price exception
does work both ways, an exceptionally clean typical buck, or
extremely unique buck can be prieadjusted upwards and will
be agreed upon prior to the hunt. These price exceptions or
variations are extremely rare and have not happened in the
upward direction yet to date; however, we still reserve the
right to price adjust on a truely unique deer.
